State of Ohio-Money, Food, Housing, HealthCare Assistance:
The State of Ohio has a website that offers assistance with money, food, housing, healthcare and more. “Ohio Here to help” was designed by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services to help Ohio's unemployed workers learn more about the many programs and resources available to them, from both the government and the private sector. Visit http://ohioheretohelp.ohio.gov/index.stm for more information.

State of Ohio Mortgage Assistance:
If you are rapidly running out of cash, and wondering where the money for the mortgage is going to come from if your unemployment continues--or if you've already run out of cash, and already in peril of foreclosure--please see www.savethedream.ohio.gov or call 1-888-404-4674. This program helps people who are unemployed or have reduced income. You might, for example, qualify for up to $15,000 as an interest-free loan if you stay in your home for 5 years. Many other programs are available.
Even if you still have good credit, and your mortgage is current, you might qualify if you have less cash on hand (not including retirement monies) than three house payments.
Please note: It has been brought to our attention that some folks are not being considered for the Save the Dream Ohio program because they are not completely filling out the online application. If you are struggling with the paperwork, call the toll-free number above for support. It's really important to get the paperwork in as soon as possible. Depending on your circumstances, it may take four or more weeks after your paperwork is complete for you to receive the assistance.
